Summer field bucket hat is the main head covering of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in summer and in the warm season. Its main purpose is to protect the soldier’s head from direct sunlight, sometimes from rain and insects. The product also performs a camouflage function.
When sewing field bucket hats, either 100% cotton or a combination of 50% cotton, 50% polyester is used. This head covering should be light and easy to fold. It’s good if special metal eyelets (grommets) with mosquito nets are sewn on the side walls of the hat, which will provide additional ventilation to the headgear in the hot season. There are also bucket hats without eyelets. Some models have a special tape sewn around the perimeter of the hat crown itself, there are built-in cells for installing special camouflage elements (branches, ribbons, mesh, etc.) in this tape. Also, a special cord with a plastic or leather lock is sewn to the bucket hats, which adjusts the fit of the product to the head. There is an option to attach a mosquito net to the edges of the bucket hat.
A bucket hat should not be too tight and at the same time, it should not leave too much room. It shouldn’t be too loose and should stay on even with moderate wind.
Bucket hats of different colors are in use, depending on the nature of the tasks of the military. There are bucket hats made in camouflage (MTP or MM14), olive, coyote, etc.
The size of the bucket hat is determined by the parameter of the head circumference (in centimeters). There are also standard sizes (XS-XL), so, you should find out the size of the serviceman’s head and purchase the product only if you know the measurements of the soldier for sure.
