Various items are necessary to support the army’s daily life and combat work. To store and transport personal belongings from place to place (sometimes in rather difficult conditions), military personnel need comfortable and high-quality backpacks, trunk backpacks, or bags. We must not forget that sometimes, especially during active phase of hostilities, things get left behind or lost at camps or places of deployment, so there is a reacquiring need to purchase such backpacks and bags again.
Beyond doubt, everyone has individual preferences. But it is obvious that a trunk backpack is suitable for transportation of large volumes of simple items like a sleeping bag, a mat, winter clothes, spare army boots, etc. If necessary, the empty bag can be easily rolled up and hidden.
A regular backpack is ideal for “noncombatant” tasks, business trips, and travel in more or less peaceful conditions.
On the contrary, for work in combat conditions, a reliable backpack is required. At the same time, backpacks are conditionally divided into two main categories in terms of volume and combat mission:
- Tactical (assault) backpack capacity varies from 20 to 40 liters and can remain on the soldier’s back during battle. Sometimes they are called single-day backpacks because they store basic necessities, dry food, and additional ammunition. They have many handy pockets that allow you to find what’s necessary promptly.
- Raid (camping) backpack its capacity varies from 60 to 120 liters. They are used to store and move nearly all the fighter’s belongings. In addition, special units use them for the transfer of military equipment during raids. The large volume and weight of a full backpack primarily requires a heavy-duty design, a rigid back and wide soft (padded) shoulder straps.
Like most other military equipment, backpacks and bags are not the items one should skimp on; you need to choose products of high-quality brands. Because nothing can be more unfortunate than if the straps of a backpack loaded with ammunition break during battle or if its bottom break through.
Sometimes all the tasks mentioned above can be accomplished with quality travel backpacks, but they can never be of bright colors as this can expose the fighter.
It is worth mentioning used NATO backpacks. They are designed with combat experience in mind, are made of tough materials and meet all modern requirements, so our fighters like them and gladly use them.
