Passive thermal underwear is the basic layer of military clothing of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which is used mainly in winter and at low temperatures. It is designed for performance tasks requiring low physical activity.
The main purpose of thermal clothing for low physical activity is thermal insulation of the soldier’s body and keeping it in optimal temperature conditions, leaving the soldier’s body dry. This is particularly important because an unwanted excess of sweat and moisture on the body can further lead to hypothermia at frost. Such consequences are rather difficult to correct in field conditions. Therefore, one of the main criteria is moisture removal; this technical aspect is provided by the synthetic and semi-synthetic materials the product is made of. The most common are polyester (microfleece), merino wool (a breed of sheep common in areas where the cold prevails; the wool has good thermal insulation properties), lycra (giving linen elasticity, preventing deformation and stretching), etc. However, this type of thermal clothing may not be completely suitable for combat tasks involving active mobility, so before purchasing, discuss this with the military for whom you are going to buy this product.
When purchasing this product, pay attention to the correct selection of the thermal underwear size by comparing it with the size guide provided by the manufacturers. Thermal underwear, chosen incorrectly in size, can create needless discomfort (compress in problem areas or form extra space and not perform its main thermal insulation function).
The color of the underwear does not play a decisive role because it will be covered with the upper layers of clothing, and it will not affect the masking properties.
