Individual flashlight

Depending on the type of lantern, the method of application also differs

Headlights

This category also includes lights that are fixed on the front or the side of the helmet. Leaving both hands free, they are indispensable for those who need to work at night using both hands. In addition, headlamps illuminate the path in front of you, which is very convenient, for example, when cooking, cleaning weapons or doing repair work.

More expensive versions of such lights also have the function of red light (less visible at night and less tiring on the eye) and infrared lighting (which allows you to transmit a signal invisible to the naked eye, which can only be seen with the help of NVD ( Night Vision Devices). Some of them also have an additional diode on the back, which allows you to indicate your presence to allied servicemen and thus avoid “friendly fire”.

It is worth noting that most such features depend on the situation, and a night attack is a rather rare phenomenon.

Handlamps

They usually also have fasteners that allow you to fix them to the MOLLE system or to the weapon. Some can even be attached to a helmet.

The less powerful of these lights allow you to view the contents of the backpack or provide first aid in the dark without breaking the blackout. The more powerful ones allow you to simultaneously illuminate a large area (for example, when searching for the wounded) or blind the enemy using concentrated beams or a strobe mode.

For hand lamps, it is important to have a button on the end for pressing with your thumb and the ability to dim the light.

When purchasing a flashlight to be attached to a weapon, you should find out in advance whether the weapon used by the fighter supports such a mount. The magnetic mount on the barrel is the only exception; it is usually universal, but somewhat less dependable. In addition to the flashlight on the weapon, you should buy a remote button that allows you to switch the flashlight without releasing the weapon from your hands.

Regardless of the type of flashlight, there are several important factors to consider when choosing:

To summarize the above, when choosing flashlights for the military, please pay attention to the specific tasks that they have to perform.

We recommend tactical lights from Fenix and Nitecore. If the flashlight is not planned to be used during combat missions, you may consider the flashlights of the brands Skif Outdoor, Petzl and Police.
